HISTORY
{Born Under a Bad Sign}
Tiberius and Anya, of Water-Tribe and Shadow-Tribe, were exiled long before the events of the Golden Butterfly. The cross-tribe couple, young at the time of their banishment, had plotted and schemed to take over their respective Tribes and then join together to rule the others. Their plans were thwarted before they could gain momentum by Anya's brother Torak, a loyal Shadow-Triber who'd gone undercover for his Silver to sniff out the traitorous couple's ploy. Cast out by their Tribes, the scarred, powerless cats wandered North, past the current Tribal grounds and into the snowy mountains, where their bitterness and resentment festered like an open wound in the sun. For years they trained in the icy darkness, fighting off rival cats and living on hares and hawks, dreaming of a day when they could exact their vengeance. The two cats had safely assumed that, after so long together and no kittens to speak of, Anya was infertile and that they would never have to worry about a litter. So it was with great surprise that the couple discovered they were pregnant. Call it motherly love, call it strategy, but Anya refused to bear her kits in such a wasteland. They would need a warmer climate to grow strong, a safe place where they could be trained to fight with tooth and claw so that one day, they might help carry out their parent's cruel punishment. So they moved South, settling in the lands North of the Tribes. There, Anya gave birth to four kittens. The first and third born were black and white like their father, the second was a flame point like his great grandfather, and the youngest of the litter was a beautiful blue point like her mother. Tiberius and Anya had never fancied themselves as parents, but they greeted this development with zeal, knowing that once their children grew, the kits would be assets to the Plan.
The four siblings, dubbed Splinter, Shatter, Shred and Shard, grew up in a cruel world. From the moment they could walk, their father had them practicing battle moves on each other and their mother forced them to learn the weak spots of their enemies. Day after day, they trained and fought and sharpened their claws for a cause they'd only heard about from their parents. The Tribes were weak and fragile, their leaders soft and vulnerable. The Plan would change that, and each member of the family would head a tribe, regardless of their powers. They would lead the Tribes to true greatness and power... By the time the kits were 3 moons old, each of them bore trophies from their parents and from each other. Splinter and Shred were large for their age, tough like their father and merciless like their mother. The two brothers were clearly the favourites, and they delighted in reminding Shatter and Shard every chance they got. On one particular morning, their violent bullying crossed the line. Shred had a blood covered Shard pinned to the ground, a paw and unsheathed claws on her throat and Shatter, thinking only of his younger sister and her safety, lashed out. His tiny thorn-sharp claws nicked an artery in Shred's throat, and the black and white tom cat fell to the ground twitching. He never got up again.
{The Walls Come Down}
Shatter was punished by his father for days. Each morn brought a new, terrible method of torture, until Tiberius discovered his young sons fear of water. Then it was nothing but the cold, dark depths of the lake. Finally one day, when the shivering young kit was only hours from death, his tiny body unprepared for such vicious cruetly, his father ceased his punishments, too distracted by the scent and sight on the horizon. The family hid in the shadows, wide-eyed and wary, as the Tribes moved into the Northern lands. Tiberius and Anya moved to the fringe of what is now Earth-Tribe territory, training their young with renewed vigor and pushing the 3 siblings to their very limits. Months passed, and the siblings gained their tattoos, though their parents did nothing to celebrate or even acknowledge this exciting milestone. Splinter was dismissive of the Air tattoo on his back, caring only for the training. But in the dark of the night, when Anya, Tiberius and their brother slept, Shatter and Shard marvelled over the Fire and Earth tattoos that decorated their pelts. And they spoke in hushed tones of a day when their tattoos might be bright with colour, when they could live amongst the Tribes peacefully, free from the tyranny of their family.
That day came sooner then they expected, and not at all in the way they'd planned.
Their mother confronted the two young cats about their plan. She'd heard their whispers in the night and she was furious at their betrayal. She fell upon her children, Tiberius and Splinter at her side, and in a whirl of tooth and fury, the little family broke apart. Shatter and Shard fought ferociously, an unknown power coursing through their veins and together, they managed to fend off their kin. Tiberius and Splinter were killed much like Shred had been. A random flick of a claw too close to their throats, and the two toms bled to death. Anya was able to severely injure Shard before she was chased off, yowling and spitting with ferocity, her plans once again ruined by her own blood.
Shatter dragged Shard away, tears pricking at his eyes. But Shard's injury, though grievous, was not life threatening. Her paw was twisted at an odd angle, and it was likely she would limp for the rest of his life. But she was alive, and that was all that mattered. Shatter tended to his sister for moons, ever watchful, fear of his mother's rage forcing him to move their nest about the new Tribe lands every few days. Shard spoke to him in calm tones, ever the patient one, ever the wise one. And slowly, her words sunk in and the fur on Shatter's back lay flat. One day, when Shard was completely healed, she told her brother that she was leaving. Shatter pleaded with her to stay, saying that they finally had the chance they'd dreamed of. They could go to their respective Tribes and live happily. It was what they had always wanted... But Shard was set on leaving. "One day," she said, "I'll come back to you brother. But my path lies elsewhere in the world. I need to go and find my own fortunes, my own adventures. Live the life we could only whisper of Shatter. I promise I will return someday."
And so Shard left after a fond farewell. Shatter made his way to the Fire-Tribe lands, his heart heavy but steadily lightening. He would see Shard again one day, he knew. Until then, he would do his best to make his little sister proud. Shatter joined Fire-Tribe, and his black tattoo finally flooded with shades of silver. He trained as hard as he could and was kind to everyone he met, ready and eager for his future and more beautiful for having been broken.
PERSONALITY
Optimistic | Compassionate | Empathetic | Driven | Sincere | Faithful | Impulsive
Kintsu is a glass half-full kind of guy. As a youngster, he strived to look on the bright side of any situation, and to not dwell on negative things. After living such an oppressive life, Kin was eager to learn about and explore his newfound home. Being warmly welcomed with open hearts and open minds gave this young Fire-Triber the boost of confidence he needed to succeed and socialize. He was hopeful and confident about his future, and that of his Tribe. Since then, Kintsu has managed to retain his enthusiasm for life. Naturally, as an adult he has more realistic views, and he is slightly less optimistic than before. It doesn't help that misfortune seems to follow him like a shadow. Despite that, he has a positive outlook on life.
Kintsu can quite easily slip into the pawsteps of another cat, and comprehend how another might react to a situation or feeling. He sympathizes with all cats, regardless of his opinion, even if that opinion is the opposite of the cat he is speaking with. He is compassionate and kind, and can relate easily to others which makes him a good listener and a loyal friend.
The Silver-Fire was and has always been a determined tomcat. When he first joined Fire-Tribe, he would take on extra tasks and do his best to be generally helpful. He enjoyed impressing his new Tribe-mates, particularly his mentor and mother figure Palette, and worked hard so that he could be the best he could be for Fire-Tribe, and make them proud. None of that has changed; only now, it is with the power and will of a Silver that he strives to do good in this world.
Kintsu rarely says anything he does not mean. He speaks from the heart, which can be a very good thing and a very bad thing, depending on his feelings towards the cat in question. Regardless, he is a very genuine tomcat, and is rarely dishonest or hypocritical. If he ends up telling a lie, it's usually because he doesn't realize what he's saying is false.
Kintsu is steadfast and loyal to his friends, his family, his tribe-mates and especially the spirits. His belief stems from how his circumstances have changed so dramatically since his kithood. He believes that fate does not necessarily shape the course of the future, but rather that each individual must forge a path for themselves, and that path in itself was a destiny predetermined by the Spirits. He truly believes that they have an outcome in mind for each and every Tribe-cat walking under the stars. Despite everything he has gone through, and the wavering he felt in his faith towards the Spirits, he has returned from his capitivty more devoted than ever.
With age comes wisdom - yet the Silver-Fire remains an impulsive tom, prone to making rash decisions. He is considerably less reckless than he was as an adolescent, because he is not simply living for himself now. His friends, family, and now his Tribe depend on him to be fair and level-headed. But there is still a part of him that will always leap in claws first, questions later.

MISC.
• Kin's voice actor is Josh Hutcherson
• Though Kintsu is naturally drawn to heat, his favourite time of the year is his birth season. He loves the cool weather and sparse rainfall, and Autumn's multicoloured leaves remind him of the flickering flames that now represent what is home to him.
• Kintsu tends to avoid conflict whenever possible. His past has made him especially sensitive to shouting, and he often withdraws into himself if the chaos around him becomes too much to bear.
• Though he has tried to leave the past behind him, Kin suffered from terrible nightmares and fear-induced seizures for a while after the incident with his father. These issues resurface from time to time when he's close to water or if a word or phrase triggers a buried memory. Needless to say, he avoids lakes and rivers whenever possible, as his fear often gets the better of him.
• Despite his initial misgivings, Kin has settled comfortably into his leadership role. Though he makes frequent mistakes, he is learning everyday and has become much more confident in his ability to lead.
• Kintsu is not fond of his kitten name. He now introduces himself as "Sun" to strangers.
• As both a Fire-Triber and a previous Smith, his pelt always has the scent of smoke and firewood clinging to it.

- The Book of Love
Baldr was out gathering herbs in the forest when the blood-scent hit him.
It was just past noon, and despite the thick canopy overhead, the Summer sun was able to peak through the leaves and branches to spread its warmth and light throughout Pheasant Woods. It was a stark contrast to the darkness and cold that had swallowed the trees only a few months prior. Winter was never a pleasant experience for a cat with such a thin coat, never mind that he was more prone to sickness than other cats because of his albinism. Thankfully, the snows had melted and the land had flourished with life once more. Summer was in full swing, and that day it was warm and breezy, exactly the kind of weather Baldr adored. Which was exactly why he was out in the first place.
He'd crossed the Fallen Birch that morning alone, feeling a tad more cheerful than was the norm. The admittedly shy albino Green-Light finally begun to make some headway in the friend department and though he was once again roaming Pheasant Woods alone, Baldr knew that when he returned to camp, there would be a couple happy and familiar faces waiting for him.
Smiling lightly to himself, Baldr has just bent to sniff at a borage plant when the wind shifted, and the yowl of a cat and the scent of blood drifted in on the breeze. Frowning, the green-light straightened, looking about cautiously. He wasn't about to dive headlong into an unknown situation, but his healer's instincts were telling him to move; some cat was in need and he could help. Abandoning his herb patrol, Baldr trotted in the direction the yowl had come from, finally rounding the trunk of a tree and nearly bumping into a snowshoe coloured tomcat who seemed rather preoccupied with the thorn sticking out of his pawpad. "Oh!" he exclaimed, taking a step back, anxiety prickling at the back of his mind, waiting to pounce. Swallowing back his fears, Baldr continued in a soft tone and attempted not to stutter... Much. "Ah, hello there. Were you the, um, the cat who yowled not long ago?"
