While we understand that relationships do not always follow a set process or routine, we have also decided on reasonable parameters for the sake of the functionality of the roleplay. Exceptions may be made on some rules under certain circumstances, but not everyone who asks will be approved if they request one.
Rules:
1) Both cats must be at least 18 moons old (adults) in order to become official mates and before requesting a roll for kittens. Both cats must be at least 21 moons old in order to request an accidental litter.
2) Both characters must have been in the roleplay for 3 months (real-time) before taking on a mate or having kittens.
3) All litters must have at least half of their kittens be put up for adoption. If the litter only has one kitten, the players may choose a roleplayer to play the kitten.
Having kittens be still-born is not a way around this rule: it will be dictated by the number that is rolled, not the number of surviving kittens.
It is encouraged to find a non-member to play at least one kitten out of any litter, but if the litter has three or less, it is not mandatory. Similarly, only one litter from any pairing will be required to have one non-member, and if your non-member is unable to fulfill their commitment to the group before the kits get their tattoos, the kit may be given to another member instead.
4) A maximum of 4 litters per season will be allowed.
5) Anyone receiving a kitten must fill out the kitten's full application before it can be accepted into the roleplay. The due date for these may be considered the day of birth. If a kitten application is not complete on the day of birth, that kitten will be considered still-born.
6) Accidental litters are allowed, but they will be limited and considered on a case-by-case basis. Evidence of at least one roleplay must be provided to verify their relationship-- be they friends, acquaintances, or even strangers. Both players must agree to the litter, and both cats must be at least 21 moons old.
7) Members will undergo a Kitten Cooldown every time one of their characters has a litter. Each member must wait 3 months (real time) before requesting for another roll for any of their characters to have kittens. (Example: Basil and Blank have a litter on April 30th. That means Syco is not eligible to request another roll for kittens for any of her characters-- Basil, etc.-- until July 30th, and the kittens cannot be born until August 30th.)
8) When members send in a request for their characters to become mates, admins may request evidence of interactions between the aforementioned characters. This is likely to include roleplays.
9) If a member who is given a kitten must leave the group for any reason, whether or not the kitten lives or dies will be decided on a case by case basis. The decision will likely be heavily influenced by the kitten's age on the date they are intended to depart.
Please read the following protocol when it comes to...
-Legitimizing cross-tribe mateships
-Requesting kittens
-Requesting exceptions to the rules
Cross-Tribe Mateships: If your characters are in different tribes and would like to become mates, they must go to their leaders and receive their approval. Please make a thread titled 'Mate Request' on the Mate Request board. Include the names of both characters, as well as the other character's player. Both players must agree to the request; you cannot request for your character's to be another's mate without the other player's permission. Both leaders will reply to the request in-character. If one or both of the leaders do not approve of the mateship, it is up to the players/characters how to react.
Requesting Kittens: If you would like to request a roll for your characters' litter, make a thread titled "Kittens Request" on the Kitten Request board. Include links to both character references.
Note: When picking players for your kittens, you must message the mods with your list of roleplayers, and wait for the admins to approve them before truly finalizing with the RPer that they may have a kitten.
Requesting Exceptions: Provide relevant links (character references, participating members' usernames, etc.) in a message titled "Exception Request". Tell us which rule you would like an exception to. Explain what you would like to do in contradiction to the rule. Give us a good reason that your request should be approved.
Note: Even if you believe you should be approved, you may not be. We politely ask that you respect the decisions of the mod team when it comes to matters such as exceptions.
